Louise Jackson Gray was born on December 8, 1941. She was the daughter of Garfield Jackson Sr., a coal miner. She was active in her community, serving as a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro and as a member of the Women’s Club for over 50 years. She continued her education at Virginia State College, now Virginia State University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in home economics. During her lifetime, Louise enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Louise Jackson was devoted to her family and friends. She loved her church and attended the former Metropolitan Congregation in Petersburg. She also loved many spiritual family members. Her children and grandchildren were very devoted to their mother and her grandmother. Despite her age, Louise Jackson remained a faithful follower of Jesus.
